A couple of notes for the poem:

1 The "Middle Passage" was another name for the African slave trade across the Atlantic ocean; a triangular route between Europe, Africa, and the Americas.

2 Henrietta Marie, Adelaide, and Wanderer were the names of slave ships working the Middle Passage.

The Take Away Show is a new discovery for me, but I really dig it. It's music and moments stripped of all the gloss. And some great storytelling too. Thanks for the links!

Are you going to the show at the Independent?

Here is Lykke Li doing the "Take Away Show" a weird french blog thing that gets performances from artists while travel through out, mostly cities. Lykke Li actually did theirs in SF. There's another version of her singing "Dance, Dance, Dance" and a few other songs they just do in the streets. The Take Away show has some great acoustic performances.

I really like her also, she has such a carefree spirit when she performs. There was also another video of her doing the song on Conan O'Brien where she was just dancing with the music. It wasnt like some sort of pre arranged dance rountine. She was just moving to the music. It was very nice. Shame NBC removed the clip from youtube.

She is coming to SF on Nov. 1st to the Independent:

LOL, no worries. It's not like I've been all that prolific with my posts. Not like when I was traveling; posting nearly every day.

You were the last but by no means the least, Samer. Sorry I don't comment here more often, but take it as read that I visit here at least twice-weekly to check on where you're at.

The computer is behaving very well. Almost too well for a Windows machine -- I keep thinking that I should find a very large tree to knock on for good luck.

And thanks for the award, and the very kind words. I've been reading them as you've been handing them out. That's quite a list!
